Sport Haslemere Awards 2018

Criteria for all awards:

• Nominees must be a resident, attend a school or be a member of a sports club in the Town of Haslemere or surrounding districts in Waverley
• All achievements must have taken place between 1 September 2017 and 31 August 2018
• Nominees are required to meet a minimum of 2 criteria from the list to be considered for the award
• There are age criteria for some of the award categories - these are displayed where applicable
• Categories that have no age restrictions are open to any age. If your nomination is for someone under 18 years old please ensure their parent/guardian is made aware
• The decision of the independent selection panel is final and will be based on the information provided within this application
• Before nominating, you MUST have got the permission of your nominee to pass on their details. For data security we cannot handle any nomination for which permission hasn’t been granted.

• Entries must be received no later than midnight on 9 September 2018

  • Sports Personality of the Year

    This award is for an individual (aged 19 years or above at the time of their achievement) who has:

    1. Made significant progress in the field of sport
    2. Had significant impact on sport in Surrey and been an inspiration to others
    3. Exceeded expectations in their sporting performance or made significant difference to a team
    Nominate for this award
  • Junior Sports Personality Of The Year

    Will be presented to an individual (aged 18 years or under at the time of their achievement) in recognition of their commitment and achievement in their chosen sport in the last 12 months. They will have:

    1. Made significant progress in the field of sport
    2. Had significant impact on sport in Surrey and has been an inspiration to others
    3. Exceeded expectations in their sporting performance or made significant difference to a team

  • Sports Club of the Year

    This award is for a Clubmark/NGB affiliated sports club that has:

    1. A proven track record of working with schools, local authorities, and other community organisations
    2. Evidence of a commitment to effective recruitment, recognition and training of volunteers, coaches and players
    3. Actively encouraged participation from underrepresented groups (e.g. people with a disability)
    4. Implemented a new idea and demonstrated innovation

  • Specsavers & Active Surrey Coach of the Year

    This award is for a Coach who has:

    1. Made a positive impact by increasing participation and/or inspiring and encouraging others to improve in their sport
    2. Enabled personal or team achievement
    3. Evidence of personal development in the last 12 months
    4. A professional approach with excellent dedication (please include of the coach is a paid or volunteer coach and the number of hours spent coaching per week)

  • Young Coach of the Year

    This award is for a coach who is under 25 as of 31 August 2017 and who has:

    1. A minimum of level 1 NGB coaching award in the sport they are being nominated for
    2. Has increased participation levels by inspiring & encouraging others to progress in their sport
    3. Has evidence of personal development in the last 12 months
    4. Has a professional approach with excellent dedication

  • Sports Team of the Year

    This award is for a sports team (aged 19 years or above at the time of their achievement) who has:

    1. Achieved success and competed at a consistently high level throughout the year
    2. Demonstrated fair play and a good sporting attitude throughout the year
    3. Shown significant improvement from previous years

  • Junior Sports Team of the Year

    Will be presented to a team (aged 18 years or under at the time of their achievement). They will have:

    1. Achieved success and competed at a consistently high level throughout the year
    2. Demonstrated fair play and a good sporting attitude throughout the year

  • Sport Award for the Disabled

    This award is for an individual who has:

    1. Made a significant impact on disability sport and been an inspiration to others
    2. Devoted continuous time and resources to the development of disability sport
    3. Overcome barriers to excel in sport
    4. Been a role model / mentor for other disabled people

    This award is for an individual who has:

    1. Contributed significantly to sport over a minimum of 5 years

    This award is for a coach, official, administrator or general helper who has:

    1. Demonstrated enthusiasm and commitment to a sport or club
    2. Has made tremendous impact on a club or organisation through volunteering
    3. Shown a commitment to personal development, team working and supporting the development of other volunteers

  • Young Volunteer of the Year

    This award is for a coach, official, administrator or general helper (aged 18 or under as of 31 August 2017) who has:

    1. Demonstrated enthusiasm and commitment to a sport or club

    3. Shown a commitment to personal development, team working and supporting the development of other volunteers

  • Sporting Impact & Innovation in Schools

    This award is for a school that has:

    1. Created a new activity/approach to engage the diverse needs of young people
    2. Has actively engaged with all young people to identify and deliver appealing activities and appropriate environments
    3. Used alternative activities to embrace new partners in the delivery of out of school hours learning e.g. parents, community partners or providers
