Surrey Heath Sports Awards 2017

Criteria for all awards:

  • Nominees must be a resident, attend a school or be a member of a sports club in the borough of Surrey Heath
  • All achievements must have taken place between 1 September 2016 and 31 August 2017
  • Nominees are required to meet a minimum of 2 criteria from the list to be considered for the award
  • There are age criteria for some of the award categories - these are displayed where applicable. Categories that have no age restrictions are open to any age. If your nomination is for someone under 18 years old please ensure their parent/ guardian is made aware
  • The decision of the independent selection panel is final and will be based on the information provided within this application
  • By nominating, you are giving consent for the nominee to be passed onto county, regional and national awards 
  • Entries must be received no later than 31 August 2017
  • Sports Personality of the Year

    This award is for an individual (aged 19 years or above at the time of their achievement) who has:

    1. Made significant progress in the field of sport
    2. Had significant impact on sport in Surrey and been an inspiration to others
    3. Exceeded expectations in their sporting performance or made significant difference to a team

  • Young Sports Personality of the Year

    This award is for an individual (aged 18 years or under at the time of their achievement) who has:

    1. Made significant progress in the field of sport
    2. Had significant impact on sport in Surrey and been an inspiration to others
    3. Exceeded expectations in their sporting performance or made significant difference to a team
    Nominate for this award
  • Sports Club of the Year

    This award is for a Clubmark / NGB affiliated sports club that have:

    1. A proven track record of working with schools, local authorities and other community organisations
    2. Evidence of a commitment to effective recruitment, recognition and training of volunteers, coaches and players
    3. Actively encouraged participation from underrepresented groups (e.g. people with a disability)
    4. Implemented a new idea and demonstrated innovation

  • Active Surrey Coach of the Year

    This award is for a Level 2 coach who has:

    1. Made a positive impact  by increasing participation and/or inspiring & encouraging others to improve in their sport
    2. Enabled personal or team achievement
    3. Evidence of personal development in the last 12 months
    4. A professional approach with excellent dedication (please include if paid or volunteer and number of hours spent coaching per week)

  • Sports Team of the Year

    This award is for a sports team (aged 19 years or above at the time of their achievement) that has:

    1. Achieved success and competed at a consistently high level throughout the year
    2. Demonstrated fair play and a good sporting attitude throughout the year
    3. Shown significant improvement from previous years

  • Young Sports Team of the Year

    This award is for a young sports team (aged 18 years or under at the time of their achievement) that have:

    1. Achieved success and competed at a consistently high level throughout the year
    2. Demonstrated fair play and a good sporting attitude throughout the year
    3. Shown significant improvement from previous years

  • Basepoint Disability Sports Award

    This award is for an individual who has:

    1. Made a significant impact on disability sport and been an inspiration to others
    2. Devoted continuous time and resources to the development of disability sport
    3. Overcome barriers to excel in sport
    4. Been a role model / mentor for other disabled people

  • Young Volunteer of the Year

    This award is for a coach, official, administrator or general helper (aged 18 years or under as of 31 August 2017) who has:

    1. Demonstrated enthusiasm and commitment to a sport or club
    2. Made a tremendous impact on a club or organisation through volunteering
    3. Shown a commitment to personal development, team working and supporting the development of other volunteers

  • Outstanding Service to Sport

    This award is for an individual who has:

    1. Contributed significantly to sport over a minimum of 5 years
    2. Demonstrated continued enthusiasm and devoted time and resources to enable others to take part (please include the range and number of people helped and any personal sacrifices made)
    3. Increased participation and enjoyment of sport and made a positive impact in their local community
